Top Hill is Budva’s big-night venue, and one of the best-known clubs on the whole Adriatic coast: an open-air arena on the hillside above town where headline DJs and regional stars play to crowds with the bay glittering below. If Budva’s nightlife has a summit, this is it, literally and otherwise.

The setting does a lot of the work. The club is built as a series of terraces down the hillside, so wherever you stand there is a view over the lights of the riviera, and dancing outdoors in warm night air is a different experience from any indoor floor. Production is full-scale: proper sound, lights and a programme of live acts and DJ events through the summer season, typically June to September.

It is an event venue as much as a club, so the night depends on who is playing. Check the line-up on the website or the posters plastered around town before committing, and expect the biggest names to mean queues and higher entry.

Getting up the hill is part of the plan: it is a taxi ride from the centre, and on event nights shuttle buses run from Budva as well. Entry prices vary by event, so check before you go, and book transport home in advance on the biggest nights, when half the riviera has the same idea at 4am.

A few practical notes if you’re visiting from outside the region. Top Hill is a huge, high-energy venue, and like any big late-night club scene, things can turn sketchy once a large crowd, heavy drinking, and the small hours mix, tempers flare, and disputes with door staff are not something you want to get pulled into. Watch out too for staff or promoters steering you toward a “free” table or a spot with a great view, only for it to come with an expensive bottle you’re now expected to buy, sometimes at several times the going rate. If someone leads you anywhere, ask what it costs before you sit down, not after. If you don’t speak the language or know the local nightlife customs, treat that as a real handicap for the night, not a minor detail, and read through recent visitor reviews before you go. They’ll tell you far more about what to actually expect than any guide can.

Frequently asked questions

Is Top Hill safe for tourists? +
Most nights it's exactly the big, fun open-air club it's known for. But it draws a huge, high-energy crowd late into the night, and if you don't know the local nightlife scene, it can go from great to overwhelming fast: flare-ups near the door, or staff steering newcomers to a table that turns out to need an expensive bottle to sit at. Go with a local or a group if you can, confirm the cost before you sit anywhere or accept anything, and check recent reviews for a sense of what's happening there right now.
